Get Involved
There are so many ways for you to get involved with SUPAS throughout the year. On average, our three shows a year open up over 150 positions across cast, band and tech!
Inclusivity is at the centre of what we do, and we welcome and encourage people of all backgrounds and abilities to get involved.
There is an opportunity to perform in one large-scale musical at the Drama Studio each semester, along with a smaller-scale musical in the Autumn semester.
Our process of auditioning is super relaxed so there's no need to stress! If you audition for a role in the cast, there will be a dancing section, so please wear clothes you can move in! You will then be asked to prepare a song from a selection provided, and be given a extract of script to perform.
If you wish to audition for a place in the band, you will be invited to a separate audition where you will play a piece of selected music for our production team.
Cast and Band auditions will re-open in September for our two Autumn Semester Shows.

PRODUCTION TEAM
Each show is run by a wonderful team of Director, Musical Director, Choreographer and Production Manager.
To find out more see the application pack or send us an email at supas@sheffield.ac.uk with any questions.
More opportunities will be available next year, so keep an eye out!
MUSICAL THEATRE MONDAYS
In September 2019 we introduced a brand new project in the society: Musical Theatre Mondays is SUPAS' answer to a Glee club!
The programme for each semester will consist of collaborative workshops with other performance societies, workshops from our own members, and masterclasses taught by theatre industry professionals!
ANYONE can be a member of Musical Theatre Mondays.
The programme for Semester 2 of 2023/24 will be released soon!
Have your say as to what workshops you want to see by filling in this form.
USHERING
For each show to go ahead we rely on ushers. This is an opportunity for ANYONE, you just have to arrive half an hour early, scan tickets, and clear the auditorium after the show and you will get to see the show for free from either the circle or the stalls as a thank you!
Sign ups will open around a fortnight before each show - Keep an eye out for details!
COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
Our committee comprises 12 different positions that look after varying aspects of the society from publicity to inclusions, and projects to music. Elections to be on committee are held around March each year.
If you are considering running for committee, talk to current members to learn more about what their job entails, then keep an eye out for our application pack in March!
SOCIALS
We hold a number of alcoholic and non-alcoholic socials each semester to hopefully accommodate everyone's interests. Keep up to date on what's coming up via our Facebook page!
Sessions!
Our take on an open-mic night! Sessions is a evening of themed performances where members take to the stage to sing in the company of your SUPAS friends!
SUPAS Goes To See...
We love to support local theatre as much as possible; especially
other performance societies.
Charity Events
Recent socials which have benefited charity and the local community include
singing in a nearby elderly home; Christmas carolling at the Children's Hospital;
promise auctions; raffles and much more!
